Embodied Movement Coaching

Embodied movement coaching is designed for individuals with a complicated relationship with exercise, feeling disconnected from their body, or wanting to use movement to promote healing. Together we will explore your intentions, desired goals, and exercise preferences, along with your current and past relationship with moving your body.

Education, guidance, and support will be provided as specific movement concerns and desires are addressed. The structure of these sessions can be full of variety and the possibilities are (almost) endless. Some sessions may consist of exploring beliefs around exercise while others involve experiences such as improving exercise technique or outdoor adventures on the mountain. Lauren strives to provide guided support while you explore connecting with yourself and your body through movement in a way that works for your body.

How do I know it’s right for me?

My services are an excellent match if you identify with any of the following:

  • Have a troubled relationship with movement and exercise.
  • Tired of exercise being a “should’ and feeling guilty about how much or little you move.
  • Desire to find a sustainable mode of exercise that doesn’t feel like punishment.
  • Want to try out or add in movement, but have no idea where to begin.
  • Have bad memories from competing on a sports team or in school PE.
  • Feel disconnected from my body when I move.
  • Want exercise to feel good, but have always used exercise to manipulate your body and have no idea how to do something different.
  • Are nervous about reintegrating exercise following eating disorder treatment or reoccurring injuries.
  • Struggle to take rest days (even when you’re ill, injured, or too tired to function).
  • The thought of movement and being in my body makes me want to cringe.
  • Exercise is the only time I feel energized or relief.
  • I am a high-achieving athlete and can’t slow down or take a rest day.

Together We Will

  • Explore body sensations and urges for exercise while we cover foundational movements
  • Explore moving your body in a new or challenging way to build capacity and self-trust
  • Learn how to identify and honor your body’s edges of not enough/too much when it comes to exercise
  • Explore your relationship with rest (and identify barriers to rest)
  • Build empowerment through body autonomy and choice
  • Explore how our physiology and nervous system affects our relationship with movement and how we can use movement for regulation
  • How to replace rules with flexible guidelines when creating a movement practice
  • Learn how to build habits in a way that feels aligned with who you are at your core

“I train to deepen my relationship with myself and to feel my capacity for lifting heavy things. I train
to be embodied.”
